:: Thanksgiving at The Rock (11/30/08) ********************************************************************** Thirty-one Swim Dogs competed in the Thanksgiving at the Rock swim meet for 10 & Unders in Castle Rock this Sunday. It was the largest turnout we have ever had for one meet, and it only included only two age groups!

The weather changed in Denver overnight, so all the families had to fight a bit of a snowstorm on the way to the meet, but everyone showed up without a hitch. In addition to our new Top Dogs, I was especially proud of our new (and youngest) Swim Dogs who swam in their first USA-Swimming meets:
Ava Kania in the heating area getting ready to race! |
Mo Berenbaum and Eden Turnbow are happy to be Swim Dogs. |

Zach Robertson showed some improvement in his races. |
Isabelle Oss, Lexie Harding and Claire Brennan show lots of team spirit in their Swim Dogs caps! |
Top Dogs (Team Records) included: Hailey Egelhoff (9 & 10 Girls 50 Backstroke) Cami Shigaya (9 & 10 Girls 50 Fly and 100 IM) Samantha Harding (9 & 10 Girls 50 Breaststroke) Addie Gunderson (9 & 10 Girls 50 & 200 Free) Lilly Jensen (8 & Under Girls 25 Fly and 25 Free) Theo Jensen (9 & 10 Boys 200 Free, 50 Fly, and )

Julia Turnbow, Cami Shigaya, and Hailey Egelhoff enjoy a moment in the gym between races. |
Theo Jensen touches first in his heat on his way to a TOP DOG record swim. |
The folks at Castle Rock do a great job putting together their meets with heating in the gym and volunteers to get swimmers to their heats and lanes. It's a very well run meet. Special thanks also to all of the parents who helped move our kids from the gym and into the heating area. I thought our families did a great job, and we could not do it without them. Our next meet is the dual meet vs. the Aurora Sea Dragons. We hope to have an even better turnout. I will post more once I get the official results from the meet director.
