:: Colorado State Masters Championships (3/28/08 through 3/30/08) ********************************************************************** Five of our masters swimmers stepped up this last weekend for the Colorado State Masters Championships at the University of Denver. It was great to have our newest Swim Dog, Sam Perry, compete after just one week of practice (Sam is on the left in the above picture). The Swim Dogs competed both individually and in relays, and Coaches Dana & Mark were proud of all of them.
They all had some great swims, and Glenn Malloy, Steve Shigaya, and Jon Sarche all qualified as "Sprint Squad" members for the championships by competing in the 100IM plus each of the 50s in freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, and breaststroke.
The group had several Top 10s and there were a couple of Top 5s. Coach Mark also swam in the event, but competed for his noon practice group, Inverness Masters. He swam 12 individual events and four relays, making him the High Point winner for his age group.
We had some Swim Dogs as spectators each day, so it was cool to have our families cheering for us. We hung the Swim Dogs banner from the 3-meter diving at DU, so we got lots of notice for our team. WAY TO GO GUYS! We got 25 out of 32 teams. Next year, arm-twisting or not, you gals have got to join us. results |
